Hotel King size bed bigger than our home King Size bed, what gives?

Just wondering, every time we stay in a King bed in a hotel our bed seems smaller when we get home. How do I get that King size for the house?

1. Could be a California King. They are bigger than a standard king sized bed.
2. perhaps your bedroom is bigger than the hotel room making the bed seem smaller
3. I too get the same impression, but short of taking a tape measure, I'm not sure. To correct a point, Standard King beds are 76 wide by 80 long while California Kings are 72 wind by 84 long. Think of it as a bed for skinnier, taller Californians.
